Description

Edinburg CISD elected to employ ERO Architects to design its fourth performing arts center (PAC) at Robert Vela High School named after famous Tejano music star, Roberto Pulido. Unlike ERO’s first three PAC designs for Edinburg CISD, the 19,709 gsf facility is an expansion of the main building. Similar to the other PACs it boasts a 400-seat theater, classroom space, dressing rooms and design shop. This new facility is state-of-the-art and enhances student achievement by giving them a learning environment comparable to that which universities have. The theater features modern technology including theatrical lighting, an intuitive intercommunication system, powerful rigging, effective speakers and ambient-noise dampening located around the theater for dramatic performances. The innovative systems are similar to those used in a professional theater which transform the students’ performances into a fully-immersed 21st century learning experience. The Edinburg CISD PAC are special in that they are learning venues for teachers and students, alike.
