Description

Brownsville ISD hired ERO to design a performing arts center that would honor Robert B. Buchanan's 40-year body of work for Brownsville ISD and serve as a piece of public art. We delivered! The award-winning Robert P. Buchanan Performing Arts Instructional Center at Homer Hanna Early College High School allows for an arts connection to the community, accommodates different learning styles and represents a 21st century learning core and public performance center. It is a flexible space with a 400-seat auditorium designed to fit the students’ unique needs for theater, dance, choir and instrumental music within the creative environment.

The interior auditorium transforms into as many as three lecture halls, each hall having full state-of-the-art audio visual systems that work independently. The full stage is 90 feet deep with 15 foot wings and three curtains and offers various lighting systems and color wash. The interior pallet, texture, style and materials are applied within context of overall design with careful consideration for the touch, feel and sound of architecture. The plan features a full-spectrum lighting lobby for student gathering and respects the current landscaping.

Our board of trustees and patrons of the arts were delighted with the design of the Hannah High School Performing Arts Center. The quality and superior work completed by ERO Architects exceeded our expectations. It was a pleasure working with ERO.
