Description

ERO commenced construction for the new Brownsville Public Utility Board’s (BPUB) modernized Service Yard project. The new campus is situated on an 18-acre site located on FM511, near the Port of Brownsville. It features approximately 55,000 square feet of new office, warehouse and ancillary facilities to support the BPUB’s field operations. The new campus also features a fleet vehicle maintenance building, fleet fueling center, a fleet vehicle washing center and concrete drives, and paving for the Utility’s 250 vehicles; and accommodates over 100 parking spaces for employee parking.

ERO is completing design for the new BPUB’s Administrative Annex Building. The new building will be located adjacent to the existing BPUB Administration Building, located on Robinhood Drive. The three-story, 78,000 square foot annex office building will house various administrative office functions. These functions include a new board room, key accounts, various engineering department offices and executive suites. Construction is anticipated to commence in the summer of 2019.

ERO is the architect-of-record for the BPUB new service yard with warehouse space and fleet maintenance facilities, including wash bays, fuel stations and maintenance bays. Construction for the new service yard is underway. ERO is also designing the new Administrative Annex Building, 82,000 square foot, three-story modern office building. The building provides customer, engineering, financial and management service spaces. Because the Annex Building contains the entire BPUB energy control center and pump stations management, it is a Risk Category IV Essential Facility for which ERO implemented a new high-performance insulated concrete block wall system for its impact resistant properties.

It is a proven way to build some of the most durable, healthy, and energy efficient buildings and eliminates the need for wood during construction and provides a cost-neutral way to build green. The thermal performance is about four times that of ordinary insulation. Other attributes are hurricane and tornado, mold, mildew, termite and fire resistance. Once construction commences in the spring of 2019, ERO will complete the design for modernizing the existing PUB administration facility.
