The Port Isabel Event and Cultural Center is a fine example of a multi-use, green facility. It is designed to host public events, meetings, theater and concerts indoors and out. The courtyard serves as a gathering area and offers a stage for outdoor venues. The exterior’s beautiful blue tiles and evening lightning that bathe the walls are reminiscent of the gulf waters. The site provides space and tools to function as a post-disaster emergency operation center for the city and is built to withstand sustained 150 mph winds. The facility weathered the 2017 Hurricane Harvey, sustaining no damage.
